Installing Smoke Detectors
Do Not Install in Bathrooms
Smoke detectors, an important part of fire and alarm systems, can respond not only to smoke but also to gas or light. This allows potential fires to be detected in various ways. When using smoke detectors, it is important not to install the devices in environments where false alarms may occur. For example, smoke can be generated due to cooking in the kitchen. Therefore, detectors may need to be kept away from kitchens in particular. Steam from showers in bathrooms can cause detectors to give false alarms.
Install at Escape Routes
It is appropriate to use smoke detectors in enclosed garages where exhaust fumes are frequently present. At the same time, since lamps also produce heat, it is important not to position smoke detectors close to lamps. Smoke detectors are best installed indoors at escape routes. This way, people can easily find their way out. The most logical area is the ceiling. This prevents people from constantly coming into contact with the smoke detector and allows signals to propagate more easily. Installation of smoke detectors may be offered by the selling companies. During installation, a suitable panel for the detector is first placed. The detector is then mounted on top of it. One of the most important things to consider when installing the detector is to mount it in the exact center of the ceiling. This way, the device is equidistant from all areas. Detectors can be powered by batteries or by a power source. Battery-powered detectors signal when the battery is low. For continuous use, it is more appropriate to choose rechargeable batteries.
