Twitter is Withdrawing Support for TweetDeck

TweetDeck, One of Twitter's Auxiliary Apps, Will No Longer Be Developed

Twitter has managed to tolerate third-party applications that threatened its dominance by either acquiring them or developing competing features. TweetDeck, one of these applications, has also been affected by Twitter's stance. TweetDeck, one of the most frequently used Twitter applications, was acquired in 2011. This year, in an announcement on its official blog, TweetDeck declared that it would no longer be developed as of May 2013, support for Android, iOS, and Air would be discontinued, and Facebook integration would also be removed.

Will TweetDeck Be Shut Down?

TweetDeck's Windows, Chrome, and Mac applications will continue to function. This indicates that TweetDeck will not disappear entirely. As Twitter increasingly focuses on revenue-driven operations, the ultimate fate of the application will be determined by this. If it does not generate revenue, TweetDeck could be shut down in the near future. The restriction of this application, used by power users, will likely increase the adoption of new applications.
